Punjab National Bank (PNB) is one of India’s oldest and largest public sector banks. It was founded on 12 April 1895 in Lahore (now in Pakistan) with the vision of promoting Indian enterprise and self-reliance during the pre-independence era. The bank was established under the leadership of Lala Lajpat Rai and other national leaders. Today, PNB has grown into a major financial institution with a wide network of over 12,000 branches and 13,000 ATMs across India and several international offices. Its headquarters is located in New Delhi. The bank merged with Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) and United Bank of India in 2020, which made it the second-largest public sector bank in India in terms of business and branch network.
